Homemade refined-sugar-free granola

  • 2 cups oats I use Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup raw cashews
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup plus a drizzle more
  • A few big shakes of cinnamon
  • A dash of coarse salt


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Be sure to mix in the almond butter really well.
  2. Spread on a cookie sheet. (You may want to line the cookie sheet with foil for easy cleanup).

  3. Drizzle with a little more maple syrup to help bind the granola and sprinkle with more cinnamon and a dash of salt if you like that sweet and salty taste.
  4. Bake at 325 F for 20 minutes. I like to check it after 15 minutes to give it a stir if the edges are getting too toasted.
  5. Let cool to room temperature and move to an air-tight container for storage.
